IT Recruiting has always been a competitive industry and with the advent of Cloud Computing, it appears to be getting more competitive. At the time of this article, unemployment in the US sits at 3.6% and there are 1.63 million more job openings than there are workers. This disparity tends to be particularly exaggerated in the Tech Industry where demand for talent with specialized skills is incredibly high.
While Amazon Web Services has become a household name in Cloud Computing industry, they are starting to face increasing competition from Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform. Over the past few years Google Cloud Platform has made great strides by making some of Google’s internal tools available to their customers (such as AI or Machine Learning), which has fueled increased adoption of the platform. While Amazon still holds 47% of the Public Cloud Market Share against Google’s 7%, Amazon only increased its revenue by 41% against Google’s 83% increase. Like any new trend in the tech industry, demand for quality talent is increasing faster than the supply.
