There is an analogy I like to use when explaining EOL/EOSL data center hardware:
You buy the brand new iPhone X and it works perfectly. Plus, it comes with a two-year warranty, which is even better!
Fast forward two years later; your phone’s warranty expires and a new iPhone is out for $1000 and comes with two years of warranty.
You tell yourself that the new iPhone is nice, but you don’t really need it. You just need to insure your iPhone X again. So you go to the Apple store and you’re told that one year of insurance for your iPhone X is $700. Woah! That doesn’t seem like you would be getting the best bang for your buck. You decide to find a third party company that will insure that iPhone X for 50% less than what Apple was charging!
